Climate Change Mitigation Unit

Design and implementation of programs to reduce emissions from deforestation and degradation (REDD) at different scales in Bolivia and other countries.

Areas of work

  • Reduction of annual deforestation projected for forests in the ecoregion to the Southwest of the Amazon region and in the Chiquitano Dry Forest. Currently it has been reduced by an average 70,000 hectares.
  • Communities in 15 TCOs (a) Chiquitania: Turubo, Lomerío, Santa Teresita, Tobité, Yembiguasu, Zabocó, (b) Chaco: Isoso, Tacovo (c) Transition forest: Bajo Paraguá, Guarayos, Baures, Itonama, Charagua Norte (d) Amazon Region: Moré, Joaquiniano, which have increased their income by 30% annually due to community forest use programs.
  • Regulating and institutional framework for implementing Reduction of Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) projects at the national and departmental levels established in the post-Kyoto framework.
